The former Minister of Interior, Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho, has said that he was compelled to quite the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in order to realise his governorship ambition in 2015, stating that the desire of his numerous supporters to join the APGA was instrumental to his action.
Iheanacho, who formally bade farewell to the PDP at his Emekuku country home in the Owerri North LGA where he formally registered with the APGA at his Emekuku ward one with registration No.3790 amidst pomp and pageantry believed that APGA was a party to beat in the state since the PDP would not find it easy to scale through.
The former Minister who received a tumultuous welcome into the APGA family after fulfilling all party formalities told his supporters that he was compelled to abandon his former party in preference to the APGA to enable him contribute his quota towards the alleviation of the plight of the poor and the downtrodden.
He boasted that having offered jobs to many unemployed youths while serving as a minister, he would replicate the gesture and even excel if elected governor for the state next year.
As a front-line gubernatorial contender and a successful businessman, the former Minister said he was not in the governorship race to amass wealth or for any form of personal aggrandizement but for a mission to positively touch the lives of the poor if elected governor.
He also promised to bring his wealth of experience from the private sector to bear in his office as a governor, lamenting that such basic necessities as healthcare delivery services, qualitative education, and shelter had continued to elude the people due to malfeasance.
“I joined the APGA because it is the right vehicle to bring dividends of democracy for our people and I want our people to be cake bakers and not cake sharers and as a successful businessman if elected governor, I will continue to do those things I know how to do best”, he said.
