As the controversy over the proposed special intervention fund for terrorists affected areas rages, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo, has made a bid for the payment of N400 billion to each of the south-eastern states by the federal government as reparations for damages suffered during the 30-month old civil war.
The South-east region claim was contained in a pamphlet distributed yesterday to delegates and journalists at the ongoing National Conference in Abuja.
In a bid to protect the South-east interest, 16 delegates from the zone led by retired General Ike Nwachukwu sought an amendment to the proposed National Intervention Fund to empower the federal government to use part of the fund for reparation and reconstruction of the area.
