Man with testicle weighing over 100lbs raises enough cash to have it lopped off

A MAN whose testicle swelled so much he was virtually house-bound is finally having surgery to remove the gigantic mass.

Dan Maurer's scrotum has been inflamed since his early 20s but doctors continued to tell him it was a result of his obesity.
After going on a life-changing diet and losing 50 pounds his scrotum continued to grow and now weighs 59kilos (130lbs).
Mr Maurer only found out his condition had a medical name — scrotal lymphedema — when he watched a documentary about Wesley Warren Jr – whose swollen testicles ultimately led to his premature death.
"I knew there was something else going on," Mr Maurer said.

“It just touches me to such an extent”

The 39-year-old, from Michigan, knew his only hope was to see the same doctor that diagnosed Warren Jr – but even then he was not sure he could afford the costly procedure.
"I just put it off on the backburner, thinking 'this is never gonna happen,' " he said.
But a parishioner at his mother's church took up his cause and began fundraising so Mr Maurer could try to live a regular life.
After contacting media outlets, hosting fundraisers and setting up a donation page over 1,000 people gave some form of donation, raising over £16,265.
"It just touches me to such an extent," Mr Maurer added.
Mr Maurer added he hopes the operation will change his life, saying: "When I go out people do look, I mean, they can’t help themselves."
His wife Mindy added that despite his condition meaning they "haven't had marital relations in seven years" she has stood by her man.
