The Minister of Petroleum resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been commended for her prompt action that ended the recent petroleum scarcity in the country.
The accolade was given by a group known as Petroleum Consumers Awareness (PCA), while addressing newsmen recently in Abuja.
Chairman of the group, Mr. Isa Maigari, said the fuel scarcity, which spread like fire in April, has now become history due to prompt intervention by the minister.

Maigari said it is on record that since the minister assumed office Nigeria has enjoyed steady supply of petroleum products across the country due to her concern for the masses.
The group also praised the Managing Director of the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Prince Haruna Momoh, for the vigour he has brought to company, which resulted in products being lifted from majority of the 21 state-owned depots across the country, unlike in the past where only 3 out of the 21 depots were functional.
Maigari also implored Nigerians to learn to celebrate their heroes while they are alive “as this will ginger them to throw up more of their hidden talents to serve our dear country.”
In her remark, PCA’s secretary, Mrs. Chioma Peter, urged the minister not to give in to recent distraction from all quarters, adding that it would be abnormal if somebody occupies such a position without critics.
“If she looks down the line of her predecessors, none of them stayed in that post without critics. All she need is to remain focused in service to her motherland. She should not be surprised, as we advance into election year spurious figures could be coming up against her ministry, power seekers stop at nothing to distract their opponents to grab power; they can set the people against its own government”, she added.
The group also appealed to the National Assembly for the quick passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) currently pending before them, as “the passage of the bill will open up the oil sector to create millions of jobs”.
The group threatened to publish the list of marketers who hoard products for the public to know and stop patronising them now that fuel is everywhere. It also promised to continue to monitor the consumption and protect the public against any filling station that is anti-public.
