The Debacle Called The 2012 NNPC Recruitment Exercise.

There is a saying that if it takes 2 years to prepare for madness, how long will the madness itself last? The same saying goes to the unending recruitment exercise embarked upon by the NNPC since 2012 that is 21 months old without a call for test.
It all started on 3rd September, 2012 when NNPC placed an advert seeking to recruit qualified Nigerians into the corporation. As usual, hopes, expectations and preparations were high because, just like my friend always says, working for NNPC is like playing for the Super Eagles. Don't blame us, just ask nigerian players that have not donned the national colours how eager they are to do so. But today those hopes, those expectations and preparations seem to have disappeared into the thin air as the destinies of the applicants who will finally get the job are tied down due to delay.

The drama started when NNPC reopened its portal in december, 2012 to accommodate more applicants and then went underground with regards to the recruitment, only to resurface a year after in december, 2013 to ask applicants with incomplete application to upload certain documents. Some applicants had even forgotten applying for the job when they got the SMS to complete their application. They rushed to upload the said documents hoping the shortlisting was on-going, but they must be fooling themselves! Now NNPC has gone underground since december again, and who knows what they will come up with when they resurface? Probably asking us to renew our application code and go underground again, abi? Will it go on and on like this? Almost two years on a recruitment exercise and still counting, with no end in sight? A friend would say it could only happen in Nigeria!

As always expected, I know some will say even if you aced NNPC recruitment process and you do not know any Oga @ the top you will still not be employed, or they employ their own people through the back door so who cares about you? Or that they have shared the slots among the bigwigs even before the advert was placed so why worry? I say yes to all these cliched allegations, but I can tell you they still reserve some slots for the commoners. The last recruitment is a testimony that the corporation is changing for better. I have a couple of friends who actually got the job purely on merit, so who says that feat cannot be repeated with this recruitment exercise?
It is on the above ground that I ask all applicants for the 2012 NNPC recruitment exercise to join me in asking the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Dieziani Allison Madueke and the GMD, NNPC Eng. Andrew Yakubu, when is the 2012 NNPC recruitment drive going to be completed? Why are they tieing down the destinies of hundreds of Nigerians by delaying the 2012 NNPC recruitment drive? And base on the above questions, why NNPC under their control should not be seen as a failure?

My fellow applicants please drop your suggestions and mediums through which we can contact them to ask questions bothering on this 2012 NNPC recruitment exercise. Immigration applicants that started way back after us asked the committee set-up to conduct new immigration recruitment exercise in a newspaper publication last week if the exercise has been abandoned and they have gotten their answer. We also need to ask authorities concern about the 2012 NNPC recruitment exercise.

Long Live 2012 NNPC Recruitment Applicants!
Long Live NNPC!
Long Live Ministry of Petroleum Resources!
Long Live Nigeria!
