‘Akunyili’s an emblem of decency, sacrifice’

Former Military Administrator of Taraba and Oyo states, Dr. Amen Oyakhire, has described late former Minister of Information, Professor Dora Akunyili, as an emblem of decency and visible example of sacrifice.In his condolence message to the family and Nigerians yesterday, Oyakhire said: “Akunyili was generally and seriously tested by mankind. “She was a strong enforcer of discipline, an emblem of decency and a visible example of sacrifice. She firmly established the fact that she was good in character, brilliant in learning and highly impressive in performance.“Her audacious and commendable activities in the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, shot her into global visibility. “She was internationally recognised as a no-nonsense Director-General of NAFDAC. She actually restored the dignity and integrity of NAFDAC. “Her loss is a national tragedy. Indeed, she lived, worked and died for this country.“May God give her family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss and put her peaceful soul in the ranks of the righteous in paradise.”
