The World Economic Forum (WEF), a network of Global Agenda Councils, has appointed Mr. Frank Nweke Jnr, as a member of the Global Agenda Council on Africa for 2014 – 2016.
Founder and Executive Chairman of WEF, Klaus Schwab, who extended the invitation to Nweke on June 3, 2014, described Nweke as one of the world’s most relevant and knowledgeable thought leaders in the field.
Schwab said he believes Nweke’s expertise would be instrumental in helping the council collaboratively develop pertinent insights and solutions to address the global challenge.
As a council member, Nweke will meet with other council members throughout the council term, as well as in person at the Summit on the Global Agenda, the world’s largest brainstorm exclusively reserved for Global Agenda Council Members. This year’s summit will hold from November 9 – 11, 2014 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Nweke is expected to submit his views on what world leaders should be watching out for and thinking about for 2015. His contribution will form the basis of the Global Agenda Outlook, one of WEF’s flagship publications.
The focus of the Global Agenda Council on Africa in the upcoming term of 2014 – 2016, that Nweke is invited to be a council member, will be to provide thought leadership on creating public-private cooperation frameworks for fast-tracking economic transformation and inclusive growth in Africa.
“I hope you will accept this invitation to join the Global Agenda Council on Africa and look forward to your important contribution to improving the state of the world,” invited Klaus Schwab, founder and Executive Chairman of WEF.
Nweke, the outgoing Director General of Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG) and former Minister for Information under the Olusegun Obasanjo administration, organised the hosting of WEF in Abuja between May 7-9, where a hitch-free conference was organised for the visiting foreign dignitaries, including Chinese premier, Li Keqiang, and more than 1,000 captains of industry and opinion-formers from around the world.
No less than $68 billion was secured during the three-day world event to support growth and development in Africa including Nigeria.
Born on September 18, 1965, Nweke’s core leadership strength includes providing thought leadership in Nigeria’s private sector through the management of NESG and the organisation of high level policy dialogues and advocacy for the adoption of policies conducive to good governance.
