More congratulatory messages pour in for Aregbesola
Congratulatory messages continued to pour in yesterday for Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, on his victory in last week’s governorship election in the state. Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, in a congratulatory message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Israel Ebije, ascribed the victory of Aregbesola to hard work and commitment to grassroots politics and urged the governor to see his victory as a call to do more for the people.
He described Aregbesola’s victory as a reward for his dedication to good governance, adding that his resolve to be people-oriented and part of the society at all times, had made it easy for Osun people to work for his re-election.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State said Aregbesola’s victory was the triumph of right over wrong.
In a statement signed by Chief Olajide Awe, Ekiti APC noted that Aregbesola’s success did not come easy.
According to Awe, the victory had justified the party’s claim that President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP committed political rape of Ekiti in the June 21 governorship election.
Similarly, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), while congratulating Aregbesola on his election for a second term, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the people of Osun State for the peaceful conduct of the election.
The congress, in a statement by its President, Abdulwaheed Omar, said since “it has become obvious that the people’s votes now count in elections, it is mainly to the credit of the integrity of the Prof. Atahiru Jega-led Independent National Electoral Commission, the electorate and the candidates that any election such as this would come out not only successful but credible. This is an indication that our country is hopeful.”
A chieftain of the APC in Edo State, Mr. Moses Momoh, also congratulated Aregbesola on his victory, saying the election showed the pedigree of the party’s Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
Speaking with Daily Sun in Abuja, Momoh urged Aregbesola not to forget what the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, had done, urging him to keep the pace going.
He said APC in Edo was looking forward to 2015 when it would also play back the glory of what the party had been able to achieve under the leadership of Oshiomhole.
