Again, North East leads South in PVC collection

 The three North East states ravaged by Boko Haram insurgency, Yobe, Adamawa and Borno, on Tues­day, dusted states like Lagos, Oyo, Imo among others in the number of registered voters who collected their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC).
The PVC is a prerequisite for vot­ing in the March 28 and April 11, 2015 general election.
This is even as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Tuesday disclosed that it has achieved over 75 per cent national average in the distribution of the PVCs, out of the 68.8 million regis­tered voters in the country.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secre­tary to INEC Chairman, Kayode Idowu, in Abuja, noting that out of the 68,833,476 registered voters, 52,233,396 or 75.88 per cent of eligible voters have so far collected their PVC’s nationwide.
The statement showed that out of 1,559,012 registered voters in Ad­amawa State, a total of 1,328,136 reg­istered voters have collected their PVCs (85 percent). In Yobe State, out of 1,099,970 registered voters, 824,401 persons collected their PVCs (74.95 percent) while in Borno State, out of the 1,934,079 registered voters, 1,320,667 have so far collected their PVCs (68.28 percent).
This is in contrast to the number of registered voters who have so far collected their PVCs in states like La­gos, Oyo, Imo among others.
In Lagos State, out of 5,905, 852 registered voters, 3,685,322 have so far collected their PVCs (62.40 per­cent. Oyo State with 2,415,566 regis­tered voters, 1,569,390 persons have collected their PVCs (64.97 percent) while in Imo State with 1,803,030 reg­istered voters, 1,252,030 persons have collected their PVCs.
